COMPANY INFORMATION:
Mexican Buoys manufactures ocean buoys for the fishing industry both in Mexico and internationally. They are the only manufacturer of buoys in Latin America.
USE OF LPG:
Mexican Buoys utilizes LPG fueled boilers to generate steam for their manufacturing processes. Their LPG consumption is considerably large as they use the steam to clean five metal presses. These presses must be cleaned after each use.
LPG Storage:
Mexican Buoys presently has two 5,000 liter storage tanks and they use one boiler.
USE OF INDUSTRIAL GAS:
Mexican Buoys started using Industrial Gas during the month of July 1998.
RESULTS:
Before using Industrial Gas, Mexican Buoys experienced a significant problem using untreated LPG. After every usage of steam to clean presses there was a pressure drop. The pressure would take between 5 and 6 minutes to recover before they could use it again.
This problem dramatically hindered the production capabilities of the plant.
After using Industrial Gas, and adjusting the burners in the boiler, the time taken to recover the steam pressure has been reduced to 1 minute. The boiler also operates much better.
By eliminating the pressure recovery problem, the production capacity of the plant has increased. Industrial Gas eliminated the production bottle neck that was limiting the growth of the company.
Mexican Buoys estimates that they have been able to save as much as 15% in the total gas consumption of the plant and they have increased production.
