COMPANY INFORMATION:
Tortilleria Playa Chametla specializes in making flour tortillas for the local market, hotels and cruise ships. They have been in this business for several years and they produce a sizable volume on a daily basis.
USE OF LPG:
The LPG is utilized in the various plant equipment involved in the production of the tortillas. LPG and flour are the main resources used in their operation.
USE OF INDUSTRIAL GAS:
Tortilleria Playa Chametla belongs to the association of Tortilla Manufacturers of Mazatlan. The association selected this company for the test of Industrial Gas because of its high volume of production. They began using treated LPG in August 98.
RESULTS:
Tortilleria Playa Chametla had analyzed the consumption of LPG {Ltrs. of LPG used / bag of flour produced}. Prior to using Industrial Gas they were consuming 6.5 Liters of LPG to produce one bag of flour. After using Industrial Gas they were using 5.3 Liters of LPG per bag of flour. The net savings in LPG consumption was 18%.
Another problem the factory had been experiencing was due to the poor quality of the LPG. This created temperature variations and made it necessary adjust the flame constantly.
After using Industrial Gas and adjusting the burners once, the problem was solved and the flame and oven temperatures have remained constant. As a consequence of the excellent results obtained in this test, presently all the members of the association have switched to Industrial Gas.
